David believes in the principles of the Green Party, and brings 25 years of professional expertise to his campaign as a Green Party Candidate, with the aspiration of becoming A Leader for a New Way. The time has come for a shift in balance from a representative democracy towards a participatory democracy. David sees the value and need for people to have a say in decisions that impact them and other citizens in the riding. This would mean community consultations, input, and strong unwavering advocacy in, and for the riding. David is committed to "creating a strong sense of community and ensuring that the interests of each and every resident of the riding is a priority."
The Green Party takes a grassroots approach to decision-making. The Triple Decision-Making Focus involving the economy, social well being, and the environment must be based on long-term planning and benefits, as opposed to election cycles. When it comes to MP action, the needs, agenda, and goals of the residents of the riding will be kept in balance with those of key stakeholders of big business and unions. We need to plan in a holistic way that is fair, inclusive, open, and caring, giving citizens more control over decisions that affect them. |
